B.O.S. Trainers & Coaches
Josh Oien: Josh has been active in the Fargo/Moorhead Baseball Community as a player, coach, and trainer for the past 15 years. He has coached for Fargo North, West Fargo, Fargo South, and Fargo Senior Babe Ruth. Josh has a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Josh specializes in testing procedures and evaluations, breaking down mechanics with players via video, and working with pitchers. Josh currently spends the bulk of his time teaching and training baseball players of all ages and ability levels throughout the off-season. He has a passion for working with athletes and maximizing individual player development.
Donny Bryant: Coach Bryant is originally from Chicago, Illinois and has been coaching at Fargo South High School as a the Varsity Head Coach for 8 years, being named EDC coach of the year once, and also North Dakota State Coach of the year once as well. During his playing career, he spent time on some of the best teams the Fargo American Legion Post 2 ever fielded. Coach Bryant is an elementary school teach in Fargo at Carl Ben Eilson school.
Joel Swanson: This is Coach Swanson’s 11th year as Shanley’s head coach, compiling a record of 166-141-2, and his 18th year as a high school coach compliling a 264-211-2 career record in ND, MN, and WI. He is a graduate of Silver Bay High School, MN. Swanny is also a graduate of The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Joel is the baseball advisory representative for the NDHSCA, the state representative for the NBCA, a member of the ABCA and a current associate scout for the Tampa Bay Rays. He is currently a teacher at Oak Grove Middle School in Fargo. Swanny was voted the 2005 and 2009 EDC coach of the year and was selected the 2009 North Dakota State Coach of the Year.
Bill Ibach: Coach Ibach is currently the head coach at DGF High School and the head coach for the West Fargo Patriots Legion team. Bill has Coached 14 years in the Fargo Babe Ruth league (1982-1995), 5 years for the Fargo Bombers (1996-2000), and 8 years for Fargo Post #2 (2001-2008). He Played baseball for Fargo Post #2 from 1978-1980, at NDSU from 1981-1984, and for the Glyndon Amateur Team from 1981-2000 as well as in Fargo and Moorhead from 2001-2003. Coach Ibach also was an assistant coach at NDSU for two years (1985, 1992), at Fargo North for 2 years(1998-1999), and at Fargo South for 3 years (1995, 2004,2005). Bill lives in Fargo with his wife Raquel and children Emmett(5), Ethan(3), and Emma(1).
Jake Rosenkranz: 'Rosey' grew up in Fargo playing Babe Ruth and Park Board baseball. He moved on to Fargo South in high school, where he was named “Defensive Player of the Year’ as a senior. Rosey also played summer ball as a member of the Fargo Post 2 legion team that was runner-up State Champions. Rosey has coached for the West Fargo High School freshmen team and he also continues to umpire for the Babe Ruth program. His greatest satisfaction comes from being able to teach young players the skills needed to play baseball the right way and seeing them progress in their individual skill levels. Rosey is active in our ‘individual player meetings’ and relates well to all B.O.S. players, as they admire and respect his baseball skills, knowledge, and love of the game. He is very active in the F/M baseball/softball community, so there’s a good chance he’ll catch one of your games this year!
Jason Carter: Jason is from Watertown, SD, where he was a world class athlete as a baseball and soccer player. He has spent many hours breaking down both pitching and hitting mechanics via video and he has a keen eye for picking out hard to find flaws in either pitching or hitting mechanics. Jason works very well with our younger players and has the patience of a great teacher. Furthermore, Jason has a degree in Exercise Science and he leads all of our B.O.S. baseball specific workouts. Jason is also the facility director and program manager for DASH Sports in Fargo, where he also trains athletes of many other sports.
Aaron Kliniske: Aaron is a native of Grafton, ND and has had great experience playing ball at high levels. He played legion ball during and throughout high school and also was talented enough to play college ball at Mayville State and UND. Aaron is a key figure in our program and he has very good knowledge in all areas of skills teaching/development.Aaron also works with many of our high school players who both have the adequate skills and desire to play beyone high school. He has many connections within the basebal world and that is a great asset for any B.O.S. player to take advantage of!
Josh Rudie: Josh is originally from Pelican Rapids, MN. During his playing career, he was a 5 year Varsity letter winner and 3 time Heart O’ Lakes All-Conference selection. In the summer as an American Legion player, he was also named 3 time All-Conference and 2 time Defensive Player of the Year. After high school, Coach Rudie played collegiately at Mayville State University. There he was a 4 year letter winner, and a team member of 2 Dakota Athletic Conference Championship Teams. Josh currently is a head Freshmen coach at Fargo South High School and a teacher in the public school system.
Dan Knox: A native of Tahuya, Washington, Dan Knox is one of Boys of Summer’s top pitching instructors, and he’s certainly had a great career as a pitcher himself. During Knox’s senior year at Mayville State University, he was named 1st Team All-DAC, All-Region, and was named the Most Valuable Pitcher in the Dakota Athletic Conference. Knox was an integral part of the Comets’ run to a DAC Championship during the 2008 season. This past season Knox served as an assistant coach with the MSU baseball team. Currently, Coach Knox is continuing his pitching career by playing for the Tucson Toros of the Golden Baseball League.
